The famous, 35-hectare Zoo is the pride of Nyíregyháza-Sóstógyógyfürdő, which won the title of the best zoo in Europe in 2015 and 2018.
Sóstófürdő
Sóstógyógyfürdő was certified as a national spa in 2012, and in 2013 it was registered as the 16th spa in the country. Today, it receives nearly 500,000 visitors a year from Hungary and the surrounding countries.

Development of green areas
Nyíregyháza pays special attention to the protection of the environment. In order to this, larg green space developments have taken place in recent years, resulting in the renewal of many parks and public spaces, thus also contributing to improving the quality of life of the people living here.
Development of public transport
As a result of modern and environmentally friendly public transport developments, 41 new, natural gas-powered buses that meet the requirements of the 21st century were procured in the field of environmental protection and noise pollution. In addition, the number of electric cars is constantly rising. Several electric car charging stations have been set up throughout the city.
Development of suburban roads
In the interests of those living in the city and the businesses operating in the western part of the city, the Western Bypass was handed over in 2019, that provides a direct connection between the western areas of the city and the M3 motorway. Thanks to the bypass, freight traffic to the city center also decreased significantly.
Development of bike paths
The length of the bike paths has expanded to nearly 80 kilometers, thanks to which, among other things, the area of the LEGO factory in the Western Industrial Area, as well as other industrial zones that are important for the economy, have become available to cycling enthusiasts.
Development of cultural values
Due to the developments of the last years, the cultural values of Nyíregyháza have also been renewed in the city. Several civic and monumental buildings have been renovated and new attractions have been added. The Rose Garden Open-air Stage has been given a new auditorium with 21st century technology. The main building of the Kállay Mansion has been reconstructed and is currently being expanded with a new wing. This patinated building is home to several periodical exhibitions and high quality events. The Sóstó Open-air Museum Village received a new visitor center in 2019.
