First phase of LEGO factory expansion completed

The first phase of the capacity expansion of the LEGO factory in Nyíregyháza, which started in 2021, has been completed. The completion of the whole expansion is expected in 2023, which increasing the plant’s injection moulding capacity by 50 percent and packaging capacity by 25 percent. The new halls are planned to create 250 new jobs.

Ground breaking ceremony in the Industrial Park of Nyíregyháza

The W-Scope held ground breaking ceremony related to its factory construction of Nyíregyháza. On the ceremony was attended Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, who highlighted the steady growth of the Hungarian electric car industry, of which this investment is also take part. In his speech, W-Scope President Choi Won Kun noted the importance of environmentally friendly transport. The South Korean company wants to play a major role in this, and as a result W-Scope is now one of the largest manufacturers of separator films. As a result of the nearly HUF 300 billion big investment, the company construct its first factory in Europe in Nyíregyháza. According to plans the production will starts in 2024.

Education

Primary schools, vocational secondary schools, grammar schools

Modern educational infrastructure and quality education are available in Nyíregyháza. Educational institutions support language learning from an early age, so children can learn English in several kindergartens. There are several bilingual primary schools in the city where students study in English, German and French.

Professional training

There are 8 vocational training institutions of the Nyíregyháza Vocational Training Center in the city. In addition, 2 other vocational training institutions are under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture. In these institutions, nearly 8,000 students were able to choose from more than 50 professions. It offers more than 100 professional trainings that meet the needs of the local economy. It also places great emphasis on dual training and cooperation with partners. Students studying in membser institutions may, in the future, be a suitable skilled workforce for companies in the automotive, rubber and plastics industries, for example.

Universities

There are 3 higher education institutions in Nyíregyháza, the largest of which is the University of Nyíregyháza. The university, which consists of 12 institutions, currently has almost 4,000 students. These institutions offer more than 80 undergraduate and master’s degrees, including agricultural engineering, food engineering, economic informatics, and engineering informatics.

It operates dual training for many undergraduate courses, providing training at professionally qualified companies. In the case of dual training, the participating company also formally teaches the students during the training in a pre-determined way, closely related to the curriculum of the higher education institution. With the help of this training system, a new workforce of higher education can enter the world of work immediately, without any further trainings or additional financial expenditure.
